WTF DOES “OG KPOP STAN” EVEN MEAN?!
Supposedly “original gangster”, can be seen as “old generation”, personally viewed as “old-school”.🤓
I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Korean and rap music were my coping mechanisms from the bullying I experienced in middle school through high school and my love for the genre has stuck by me ever since.
Unfortunately, I took a huge break from Korean music around 2015 when I was officially diagnosed with lupus nephritis and seizures; I was receiving and battling years of chemotherapy and dialysis along with taking 32 pills a day, so I had no mental/emotional/spiritual room to keep myself updated with the genre. Luckily, I’m in remission now! Doesn’t mean that lupus and seizures are gone because I am still very capable of frequent flare-ups of I don’t take care of myself, but I make sure to do so enough to manage and live as “normally” as possible.
When I made this YouTube name, I was thinking from my graphic-design-major perspective of a brand that will not only describe what my content will be about but will also align with the times, and y’all know that “Kpop stans” have been a thang for awhile now so hence the cringe-worthy title, OG KPOP STAN. (My love for Eminem is also relevant.😂) ALSO! Just to be SUPER clear— me calling myself an “OG kpop stan” does NOT mean that anyone who’s listened to kpop after me is inferior or less-than. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time. Please don’t get that sh*t twisted.😛

Some super interesting things about Likey. The whole album was titled Twicetagram, which is their Insta handle too. Likey has a lot of Instagram imagery in the choreo. The windows are supposed to be like photos you’d see on Instagram, and the choreo keeps referencing and pointing to the Like/Heart button, the heart-heart part of the choreo/song.

You technically missed Heart Shaker, which is a title track for a reissued album: Twicetagram (the album for Likey). Hopefully you can react to it soon!
Legit yelled out “YES!” when I saw this posted. “Likey” was the song that got me back into Kpop and TWICE turned me into a ONCE.
Omg Likey is an icon!! But between Likey and What Is Love? eras there is also a song called ‘Heart Shaker’, you should react to this too!!
There also a song called Heart Shaker that is a comeback after Likey so you want to react to that than you can ! 😌 and at the end of the Likey mv where you see the phone part you can hear a little preview of that song .

Hi Thina, you actually missed one M/V that came out after LIKEY but before WHAT IS LOVE. Its called HEART SHAKER and it was a repackaged album of Twicetagram which had LIKEY as the single
TBH I never thought of TWICE when you mention OG KPOP 😅 I think of RAIN, Super Junior, JYP, BUZZ and TURBO (personally bias towards those guys). So basically first gen/second gen.

TWICE are always clever and detailed with their concepts and songs, from the vibe of the song, visuals, to the lyrics and even choreo, it’s connected , you will discover a new detail every time you try to focus on (the MV ,lyrics and dance), the whole concept is about the new interactive world of the new generation , some even say that there’s something deep and sad about the real meaning of those lyrics; Likey is a continuation of the girls growing up journey , at that age they will be more interested of their appearances ,being on social media and appealing to their crushs. The choreo is imagery description of the lyrics(for exemple the windows are insta photos; they are pointing to the heart on the side; MOMO was applying bb cream and lipstick; jihyo zapped jeongyeon dress; during the bridge that domino was wifi icon… There’s a lot personality and flavor in the girls dancing here , you can feel how fun it’s for them ; it’s always like that for them , if you watch their different stages you will see it.
Likey is the single most addictive substance known to mankind and I can’t be convinced otheriwse.
