Have TWICE really changed? Have they forsaken their cute concepts altogether or have they simply evolved such concepts? From Like ooh-ahh to More & More, what kind of changes can we see?
Welcome to an episode of Kpop Investigations! today we are going to be discussing Twice and how they have changed. At least from my own perspective, and from a surface level with their Korean title tracks. In recent times, Twice have experimented with different concepts, from having started out with a girl crush debut, like ooh-ahh and cute concepts thereafter to now a concept that could be considered mature and luxurious, I thought it would be interesting to take a little look at Twice from debut until now, see exactly how they have evolved over the years.

*2016:* Twice always pull cute concepts they should change!
*2020:* Twice has changed so much I miss their cute concepts!
I think it has a lot to do with age. They’ve gotten older so I don’t think we can expect them to always do cutesy, bubbly, rainbow fairytale concepts. Hence, Feel Special and More & More.
I feel like red velvet are one of the only girl groups nowadays that change their concept every comeback and do it well
EDIT: I also want to add BTS and mamamoo to the list of 3rd gen groups that change their concept frequently without it seeming off
EDIT 2: I don’t stan a lot of boy groups so this completely slipped my mind but seventeen and pentagon are up there too, someone also mentioned loona, I explained it in the thread why I’m on the fence with including them, but loona are very versatile musically

TWICE are not just idols they are artists. They did something that many don’t have the guts to go. They matured a cute concept without going to a sexy or girl crush concept. TWICE will have longevity because of their commitment to growth and evolution.
The best apart would be them being 100% comfortable with what they sing and put out songs that they genuinely want to put out. I am so proud that they most of them are writing their own songs and they’ve also grown through lyrics they write. However even with songs they don write, I want them to sing and perform the way THEY want to. I see how uncomfortable Momo was during all encores in More & More and she always have been uncomfortable (even though she is really good). I’d rather her rap instead Dachae if she feels comfortable with it more like she did in Hot.
*End of the day, I just want them to enjoy their career and at the same time maintain a balance with their own personal life and find happiness* ❤️
twice made a cute concept, everyone was fed up and wanted them to change concept, a few years later they make a more mature concept and now people want them to return to their cuter concept. And there the same thing this goes with blackpink, in 2016 everyone was happy because they were making a concept girl crush and now everyone wants them to change concept
They are getting older, they can’t be doing cute concepts forever. Also, twice’s markets is Korea, which was cute concept. But I think they are trying to go worldwide so feel special, fancy and more & more are more appealing to that market.

Am i the only one who feels like twice has changed their concept but still keep their unique touch every time. They are mature women now so i guess its natural to change the concept. ❤️
TWICE themselves know they have mastered the energetic and bright concepts. But as artists, they want to explore different concepts and try new territories.
If you want “cute TWICE music”, just go and look up for their cute songs. I mean it will always be there and it will always be TWICE’s music/product, I don’t get why there is a need to choose to “stay or diverge from the concept”.
Also, of course not everyone will like TWICE’s musical direction because of this very simple thing called PREFERENCE, but we ONCEs are here to support them all the way.
JYP basically pre made twice for the seven years after debut. They have a whole storyline from falling for a guy as they are young. And as the grow older they become more mature and play hard to get. I can’t see twice going back to cute anytime soon unless they do it after they renew their contract. I feel like twice has their own concept, they’ve always tried different sounds and aesthetics. To me, they’re cute (and will probably always be), but they’ll continue to experiment with new styles every comeback to show how versatile they are
as ONCE myself I remember when twice debuted they themselves said jyp was trying a new genere a new style, the “colour pop ” concept for them, and a lot was said about this “new” concept called colour pop, and now I see because of this video crystal clear, the colour pop concept for them is exatly this cute and bright songs with girl crush twist in their clothes and style, and sometimes sexy elements in their coreo as “like ooh ahh” dance.
Oh gee and then comes Gfriend who recently came with Apple and completely blew up their cute concept
People grow and fans should aknowledge that, we all miss the groups debut days but eventually groups can’t keep up with the same image especially when members are growing up/maturing (Also the thing that people are never feed with what idols come up so we also need to aknowledge that toxic fans are out there :/)
Actually, I think earlier They had cute concepts because some members were still teens e.g the Maknae line.
Like Tzuyu ,Dubu and Chaeng were 15 ,16 .
But now they have become adult.
That’s why their concept matured.
Usually im a BG stan only but Honestly i love everything about twice. Why does these girls get so much hate for? I just don’t get it…
I feel Twice’s change is the MOST ORGANIC and natural one in the history of K-pop. It’s like Feel Special came out at the time where the message of the song was REALLY felt by all the girls.
More and more is one of my favourite 2020 songs so far and I loved it thoroughly because I feel like you can see the girls themselves develop into these mature women.
With RV it’s like their group in itself is sorta like an adventurous group that keeps amazingly pull off different stuff whereas Twice’s concepts is growing as they’re growing which is nothing I’ve ever seen in K-pop.

People: ” I don’t like there song anymore, I miss the old days, they are not same. I am going to unstan. They were better before”
Blackpink having consistent concept
People: ” if they again have girl crush concept I will unstan them, can’t they change their concept. Why are they so popular when they always sounds the same”
In end fans are never Happy.
PS: I like group who has different concept in every comeback
When a girl group like BP sticks to one concept yall call it REPETITIVE.
When another group like TWICE changes up their concepts, yall say you miss their OLD concept.

I watched their docu series “Seize the light” and in that one of the members said that they always wanted their music to grow and mature along with the members as well as onces . I’m glad they are experimenting with their music and try out new things and I honestly am impressed how they are able to do that while maintaining their sound . When you listen to a twice song you can get the feeling that it was made for them .
