Tbf I ain’t defending Nayeon just cause she’s the famous one. But if someone was kind enough to look after me and my mum when we was struggling and helped me be able to achieve my dream, then I’d sure as hell pay them back with interest! But who knows 🤷♀️ also people saying Netizens should leave her private life alone, one it’s not private when everyone knows already and two y’all wouldn’t be saying that if it were a western artist. Kpop idols ain’t babies.
I totally disagree with this. The guy dated the mother for 12 years. I don’t know if common law exists in Korea like Canada, but you aren’t obligated to pay someone back just because you dated them. If they got married or whatever then sure, but why would someone be paid back for money over time? That would be like me billing my ex-girlfriend for every dinner or movie ticket I paid for her over 12 years…
Idc if you’re famous or not. If someone willingly steps into a parental role to provide for you in a time of need as a child and then turns around once you’ve become successful to demand repayment, they were never a parent, never cared, and deserve absolutely nothing in return. It’s a parent’s job to provide for their children. Full stop. He was not a bio parent. He chose to provide. That does not include conditions. Good for nayeon.
Edited to add; you can’t sue someone for repayment of money you gave without the understanding that it would be repaid.
I had a stepdad who would always make me feel guilty for things like having him drive me to school or get groceries for us bc it cost money (i was literally a child). Being financially supportive is like the bare minimum when you choose to be a father figure and partner for someone and their family. Using that against them is emotionally abusive.
My question is : why is that our buisness? It’s not our family it’s Nayeon’s. We weren’t asked about this. None of them have proof of any of this happening. Did the ex show any proof, no. Did Nayeon/her mother show any proof,no.
It’s no ones business what transpired between Nayoen’s mother and her ex-boyfriend. What it looks like is he now sees how successful Nayeon is and looking to get back money he willingly spent during their relationship. Nayeon would’ve been a minor and therefore unable to agree to any kind of loan if it was offered and not required to pay it back. I’m confident that if Nayeon didn’t debut this wouldn’t be the issue it is now. Greed brings out the worse in people and reveals their true intentions. It’s time for netizens to stay out of their private business. Before they criticize on something they have no intimate knowledge of they should look at their own lives. Do they want the same scrutiny and light shone on it?
Maybe this is a biased opinion because I’m a lawyer, but if the courts thought Nayeon and her mom were in the wrong, they would have found in favor of the man, no? I feel like this situation might be like: he was dating her mom, and wanted to take care of his “family” at the time since he felt that was his role. When they broke up, the man felt bitter and knew Nayeon was now rich, so he wanted his money “back” claiming it was a loan. I’d never sue an ex over money I spent taking them out to dinner or helping them with rent and say I was loaning them money.
Imagine dating someone with children and then adding a clearly serious financial decision into the relationship. He should have made up a contract, he was either blinded by love , stupid or is lying. It makes perfect sense that Neyeon won because of the lack of legal binding with the agreement.
So the dude give them money just bc he want to ask for more money later, not bc he wanted to be nice at them, you don’t ask back for what you give at heart, he didn’t ask for a little amount of money, he wanted his whole “inversion” back which makes me question, how did he see nayeon and her mother? If we are going to see this matter morally let’s question with what morality did the dude give the money to Nayeon.
Well, we don’t know the full details but the ex-boyfriend should have made a contract if he was going to lend such a large amount. If he lent it in small amounts, he should have stopped when Nayeon’s mother did not pay him back after a few years itself. Why wait 12 years?
As a lawyer myself, the criticism of the netizens is quite dumb. Here are the reasons:
1. The guy had DATED Nayeon’s mother and not married. According to law, unless you are married to your partner legally, you cannot sue them for a loan.
2. Law works on evidences and NOT moral justice. It could have been that the man might be trying to skank out money. So bashing Nayeon on the ground of “returning money on moral values” is completely unreasonable and baseless.
if youre dating someone and buy that person a lot of things, you cant just turn around and sue them once you break up because you want back all the things you bought them
This was a “deal” between Nayeon’s mother and the man and has literally nothing to do with Nayeon. She was a child at the time and not responsible for any of this. And IF her mother did promise to pay the man back if Nayeon debuted, she had no right to do so, because the money earned by Nayeon is not hers
She was basically her stepchild for 12 years from the age of 9 to 21 or so. There was no reason for Nayeon to think this was a loan, and even if it was, her mother does not automatically have access to sign away her future money when she is a child. It is normal to pay for living expenses for your stepchild same as if it was your own child. Cost of living is very high in Korea and cost of schooling is high as well. This is not a crazy amount of money to spend over 12 years. The fact the court did not find evidence this was ever a loan makes me believe he is lying and he just paid the money like a normal stepfather and now that the relationship is over he regrets it and is trying to use the court system to force Nayeon to give him money. If they still had a good relationship she would surely give him money if he needed it. The fact that he sued shows there is no good relationship there, he just wants her money. This is no different than if a parent charged their child for the cost of raising them, it’s a gross thing to do.
He was basically a father figure for her, he shouldnt expect any money back. Dont date people with kids if youre not going to be a parental figure. Simple as that.
Honestly this says a lot about Nayeons situation when she was younger, and I’m amazed she was able to make it so big, and IM SO PROUD OF HER!!! The courts need to find sufficient evidence in order to deem who wins or loses. If she won, then she probably never owed that money in the first place tbh
Tbf I ain’t defending Nayeon just cause she’s the famous one. its literally nayeon’s family privacy. its the courts decision. nobody told the netizens to vote.
People are literally invading the idol’s privacy
So now netizens are going to criticize idols’ private life, I’m not surprised at this point.

Bro it’s her family like why netizens getting involved
Sounds like a person who “helps people out” to get something out of them later on; glad Nayeon and her mother won the lawsuit
“Nayyy yyennnn” 😭😭😭

why is she criticised when it’s the courts decision💀
I can’t believe they would allow the public to know about this. There should’ve been an extra layer of privacy considering Nayeon is a celebrity.
Holy shit… so idols no longer have a privacy? Korean court found nayeon and her mother not guilty
I had a stepdad who would always make me feel guilty for things like having him drive me to school or get groceries for us bc it cost money (i was literally a child). NAYEON WON THAT LAWSUIT. END OF DISCUSSION.
Okay but like, why would Nayeon need to pay? She wasn’t the one who asked for the money. Her mother should pay for the money that she had asked for
Netizens should start learning how to mind their own business at this point.
Nayeon has nothing to do with that
And even then
He apparently couldnt prove it was a loan…
Since he was with that woman it can look like a gift..

If this man gave nayeons mom money as a gift its ridiculous to ask for it back from her and even nayeon
That’s her mom’s business. Imagine asking a child you raised for the money you used to raise them???
“Nayyy yyennnn” 😭😭😭

Can we just say Nayeon looked amazing in all outfits she wore.

idc what anyone says, it’s Nayeon’s business. People need to learn to mind their business and let idols do what they want.
So either what he’s saying is true, or he knows Nayeon’s making a bag (especially after her solo) and wants some of it.

she owes him nothing just because she’s famous doesn’t mean she should be the one to pay it
This discussion is totally crossing the line in my opinion. It’s Nayeon private life, it’s none of our business..
