Re: Numbers: In the new JYP dance rooms, 3 floorboards is 1 “spot” or number – it was probably the same in the old ones too. So you know when you’re transitioning from this move to the next that you’re going from 5 to 3 to 1. When you monitor the practice, you can look at the floorboards and go “ah shit I went from 5 to 4 to 2, not far enough to the right, that’s why we were all bunched up. I’ll work on that.” Helps keep things evenly spaced and predictable so that you can reproduce the spacing and distances even when you don’t have floorboards to measure, and it makes changing the choreo on the fly easier as well. “You stand on 2 instead of 3 this time” and people know what you mean and can see it in their heads.
