BTW GUYS – TXT is the first KPOP group to headline Lollapalooza taking place in CHICAGO! Stray Kids will be the first to headline in PARIS this July like we talked about in a previous video! ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
I AM SO HAPPY FOR FIFTY FIFTY! Seriously wild to see a group come out of a company with no prior idol groups blow up this much so fast, absolutely deserved too.
Wow it’s already been 5 years since stray kids debuted I’m so happy for them hope they get far ❤
I CAN NOT SAY HOW PROUD I AM OF FIFTYFIFTY!!!!! I’ve been a fan of them since debut (which wasn’t that long ago) but I knew that they would eventually gain a lot of popularity! I very happy for them that’s a huge accomplishment! Also this was my first anniversary with SKZ and I am so proud to be a Stay! And it’s amazing to see all the BTS members all together again it melts my heart whenever I see a picture of them together! Btw I’m glad ur voice is better and happy u finely got to attend a SKZ concert I can only imagine what’s it’s like to be able to go to a concert 🥲🤗❤❤
Assuming that someone is pregnant just bc they went to their OB/GYN is honestly awful. They could be there for plenty of negative reasons like cancer screenings or infections. Putting someone’s medical _anything_ on blast by spying on them and taking photos and spreading rumors is absolutely disgusting.
sehun just breathes and people make false rumors about him all the time, just wish people would just leave him alone. His very private person for reason like he said in an interview a while ago ” humans are scary”
I think what a lot of people don’t get is that you can still criticise an idol without hating them (with that being said, I don’t condone the witch hunt after her either, and western media sensationalising it doesn’t help either). Yes what chaeyoung has done is wrong, but continuously playing the foreign card and saying “It’s alright” instead of educating her is not getting her anywhere. If anything, it just shows that people are willing to cover up your mistake which can feed into a “it doesn’t matter because the situation will boil down anyways” mentality, all the whilst ignoring the people actually hurt from her actions. Whether she’s truly aware or lying about not knowing the symbolism behind the nazi symbol (I can partially believe this because my mother doesn’t even know what the nazi symbol is), what has happened has happened. She had done a mistake, a seriously grave one and she needs to be held accountable for it. Same goes for the Q shirt. Similar to her, I didn’t know what it was because I don’t pay close attention to American politics as a foreigner, but that doesn’t mean you can’t hold her nor her stylist accountable for not knowing. At the end of the day, the stylist still had her wear it. Educate them instead of sweeping it under the rug, so that they’re less likely to repeat it in the future. And especially as a girl group trying to expand into the west, researching culture is important lest they want to offend more minority groups.
Off subject, but I just wanted to say…MY MOM IS HOME!! Her spinal surgery was successful, and they ended up sending her home extremely early. She can even walk on her own, which we thought she would have to relearn how to walk. Anyway, I had to just say something about it. Love you, Kpop Junkee!!!
Thanks for keeping us updated. You’re the only k news channel I can trust.
I am so happy ningning came out with this. It just makes me look up to her more as a inspiration cause i love to dance and i have really bad eye sight miyself and it is a huge challenge/ So its really nice to know theres someone out there who is living their dream regardless of the challenges with eye sight!
I’m so excited for fiftyfifty!! They’re so talented and have been killing it with their tracks since debut. A lot of similar groups never get the chance to make it big and its SO competitive with girl groups now so I’m so excited they blew up. 🎉🎉 They’re amazing, can’t wait to see what they do next
Okay, so Im gonna go on a bit of a rant, so to speak, on the entire subject of K-pop idols saying/doing/wearing things problematic:
It seems a lot of people (or at least the most vocal ones) have one of two attitudes: 1) excuse everything with “well they didn’t know” or other such arguments. Act like it didn’t happen or downplay it and say people are “overreacting.” 2) Seem to believe idols are not humans, and if they make mistakes, they should be given zero chances to apologize, learn, or change behavior. The idol, and anyone who does not hate them with a burning passion, is to be condemned.
Here’s the thing: idols *are* humans, just like the rest of us. They do make mistakes. Whether that be something recent or something from when they were younger. No, they aren’t stupid, and yes, they are likely aware of a lot of the things people want to brush under the rug and excuse with being ignorant of the problem. If they do something problematic that upsets you and you decide, you can not forgive the behavior and choose not to support them (regardless of what happens after)… that’s valid. Bullying other fans for forgiving idols isn’t the move, though. Doesn’t make you any better.
For me, it’s about apology and seeing changed behavior. If an idol can both acknowledge that their behavior was wrong/hurtful and learn from it and be better, I’m going to continue to support them. If someone else doesn’t, I’m not going to crap on them or try to convince them to do so. To me, it’s about owning up to negative behaviors, learning from them, and improving yourself to be a better human. I have parts of my past that I’m not proud of, and I have learned from others and become a better person (something I will always continue to strive to do: improve myself). To not allow idols to also make mistakes, learn, and be better feels incredibly hypocritical.
That was a lot longer than I intended. Thanks if you actually read it all, I appreciate you sticking through.
i’m not really sure how people can genuinely defend wearing a hate symbol especially when chaeyoung even apologized for wearing it. the most common argument is that chae didn’t know but if we say that every time an idol does something problematic, we’re just assuming they’re stupid atp. i don’t think she had any ill intent but it’s still a hate symbol and you can get arrested for it in multiple parts of the world for associating with it.
Lollapalooza line-up is so funny to me bc I was telling my mom TXT were gonna perform there and she was like “what?! Why would they perform at that cracked festival?” And now you’re telling me NWJNS are? Oh can’t wait to tell her lmao
Sehun has all rights to be mad and for the first time we got to know about how the celebrities feel about this baseless rumors I’m glad he did hope more celebrities would be open about this in future
i need EXO comeback in peace
I love how simple and informative your videos are
Thanks for the content ❤
To clarify, Chae’s apology said she didn’t correctly identify the meaning of the symbol, not that she didn’t know what the symbol was.
I can actually believe that she saw the shirt, wherever she got it from, and her first thought was that it was a swastika, not the hakenkreuz, and she never thought about it again. I’ve done that before. Does that mean there shouldn’t be consequences even though I find that believable??
No, everyone should be given a crash course in world history symbols that are connected ro racism/evil.
As for the qanon shirt, you have to pay attention to US politics to know what it means, and I doubt that most people outside of the US know what it is. Giving the stylist the benefit of the doubt, they probably saw an English letter and the flag design and thought it looked cool. Kpop idols and stylists are a little infamous in the questionable word choices on shirts they wear/put idols in.
I do however think it’s f-ed up that JYPE didn’t put about a statement acknowledging that the Q shirt wasn’t on Chaeyoung, it was the stylist.
Fifty Fifty’s discography is super catchy and good to listen to, I’m glad for the girls, they deserve it!!!
SM entertainment is really impressing me how fast they stepped up keep it going it’s crazy people always attack EXO soon as they’re going to do something together are by themselves my God the power my boys got really draw this much hate don’t understand it…. Ever since EXO announced their comeback and the haters started rumors about the EXO member…. first Kai then Suho and now Sehun… haters have gone crazy hearing EXO’s comeback this year….
I have stanned straykids since their survival show and I can’t belive it’s already been 5 years since then. My boys are gaining huge popularity yet they themselves aren’t realizing it, I hope our boys know how much they have achieved and that they should be super super proud of themselves.
I’m giving Chaeyoung the benefit of the doubt and accepting her apology at face value, but it bothers me that some people are brushing it off like it’s no big deal. QAnon is outrageously stupid, hateful, and destructive. The Nazis literally killed millions of people. If she was intentionally displaying symbols of hate, that would say dangerous things about her character and her potential influence. I hate fascists, Nazis, and conspiracy theories more than anything else in the entire world, so I’m not going to contest anyone who won’t give her the benefit of the doubt like I am.
Bringing it to her attention and informing her of the seriousness of those symbols was the correct response. Q is unknown outside of the US, and the swastika itself doesn’t have the same automatic association with Nazis in the East that we have in the West, so it’s not unreasonable for her to have assumed it was related to the swastika seen on Buddhist temples in South Korea.
But if I start hearing her talk about “globalists” or “bankers” or “wooden doors,” or referencing the numbers 14 and 88, or claiming that George Soros is secretly running the world, or posting frogs all over the place, or calling everyone sheep, then my alarm will truly ring off. I keep an eye on fascists, and those are all major dogwhistles (though “sheep” is generally used by conspiracy believers).
