You know you’re life is rough, when going back to high school is a happy place… I genuinely feel for this woman

If that woman who did the high-school thing isn’t lying, I really hope she gets the help she needs. No harm was done.

Staying at an Airbnb in Nashville was the worst “hotel” experience I’ve ever had. The host was this old lady who stayed in the other room and made us feel like we were constantly breaking rules as a houseguest, when we were in fact paying through the nose for one bedroom for the weekend. We left the place clean and she still charged us cleaning fees because we left hair (we didn’t have a vacuum after combing). I’ve never used an Airbnb since — they’re expensive and give you no privacy.

i actually saw a tiktok where a woman was talking about how a friend of hers recently sold her airbnb because she had unknowingly contributed to sex trafficking. traffickers rented her house while she was stuck overseas during covid lockdowns, they rented for months until her neighbors called to tell her that people were stealing her furniture. she asked them to call the police and they did. when she was able to get back and to the house, she was told the house was used for trafficking. she was so upset she indirectly contributed that she sold the house. it’s so sad, but really airbnb is so poorly regulated that people feel unsafe using it. i’ve heard too many stories about them to ever feel comfortable renting one.

That’s terrible to know so many donated organs people are waiting for and some dying while waiting for are getting thrown out or having so many issues after getting them.

How has there been so little oversight over something like organ donation?? I’m glad the current admin is doing something about it.

My cousin who passed away last week was an organ donor. The thought that his last gift to the world could be wasted so easily and that someone else may die because of it makes me sick.

My family and I stayed in an Airbnb recently; we are a big family with neurodivergent (and loud, stimmy) kids and we were traveling with my in laws, and wanted the space where we wouldn’t bother anyone. But it was literally infested with rats. Never again. I will literally write one of those “sorry my kids are super loud sometimes” letters with some chocolate and Starbucks gift cards for neighbors in a hotel rather than risk being in a janky house like that!

Phil: Of course, this happened in Florida.
Me: Called it!

When my partner visited me, he stayed in an AirBnB. He booked a place that was known for things like parties/muggings/gun shots/stabbings, etc, *all in the lobby.* He then tried to move to a different area to get away from that area, so AirBnB said he was a “party threat” and refused to let him book, cause they thought him wanting out of the terrible area, was his way of trying to throw a party, all just 2 days before the trip. Luckily he got a place, but yeah, I understand why people don’t like AirBnB as much anymore (especially the chore houses).

Writing this comment whilst still watching but you nailed it… Airbnb issue isn’t the cost of the listings but the cost of the service fees and cleaning charges that are causing me to find alternatives and trying to book directly or even back to hotels.

It’s definitely not the economy ruining AirBnb. It’s the outrageous fees, the host are terrible, the places not being as advertised, host not even supplying trash bags.

People rather stay a hotel now. Last AirBnb I used literally gave us no toilet paper and she said you have to go get your own. That not stated in the ad at all. After that I never used it again.

The abortion language is something I talk to my family and friends about. I have a pacemaker-like device in my abdomen. If I get pregnant and my organs start moving as they do, it is almost a guarantee they will get entangled in my wires; leading to a life or death situation. In my state I would need to wait until that moment, somewhere in the second or third trimester to get medical help. Not to mention the psychological damage from growing and bonding with this thing you can never have, just waiting for the ball to drop.

Those bouncers are absolute bamfs. Manny went from “oh funny prank” to “oh shit this is no joke, I’ve gotta stop this guy” in less than a second. The other bouncers seemed to react really quickly to help too. Glad no one was hurt.

As a husband to a wife that is currently waiting on the double lung transplant list – the system is definitely so broken and in desperate need of an overhaul. So glad to hear that hope may be not far off. And even if not hope for us personally, hope for the others that need and will need it in the future. To those also waiting, I hope you get your call soon ❤️

An appartment building with illegal airbnbs burned down in Old Montreal last week. Five people are missing and two bodies were recovered so far. One of the victims was staying at a unit operated despite the ban in the area. The unit was not up to code; it had no windows, no way to escape. The 18-year-old girl was staying there with friends and died in the fire after making two calls to 911 to report that she was trapped in the apartment. Airbnb needs to take some accountability and prevent units being rented in cities where a ban is in place. We don’t have enough inspectors to crack down on every unit. It’s putting a huge strain on city resources, and Airbnb’s inaction is supporting illegal activity.

I’m almost the same age as that woman who pretended to be in high school and I can say for sure that’s a big feeling. I’m sure most people from my generation are feeling hopeless and alone in the current world and I can totally understand doing something bizarre like that. She doesn’t need jail time she needs help and support. Honestly I’m glad she did something strange like that instead of what a lot of my peers have turned to with things like crippling addiction or suicide.

That first story really scares me. I’ve been working at strip clubs since the mid ’90s. I know people who work at that strip club and I’ve known people who have worked at that strip club for 20 years. This sort of thing is very rare in our community but it does happen. Unfortunately what we do does attract the crazies and also unfortunately a lot of people don’t think we deserve to be treated with respect. I am so glad this did not turn into another Pulse shooting.

The one time I opted for an Airbnb over a hotel was my wedding night. We were charged a cleaning fee even after leaving it spotless, and it had BEDBUGS! Which left my husband and I needing to wrap all our luggage in trash bags in the hope we weren’t bringing them home with us. They refused to issue a refund. Never risked staying in one again. Hotels may still get bedbugs but at least they’ll give you your money back.

Thoughts on the TWICE incident: I live in China and people in East Asia use English words like how we use Chinese words on tattoos to look cool. They really don’t even consider what the words mean or the message, like how people who get tattoos of Chinese words don’t consider how ridiculous it would be to have a tattoo saying “dragon” or “power” in English on your body.

I often see people, children even, wearing shirts with swear words or pot leaves without event realizing it. Grandmas even with words like “bad b**ch” on their clothes. So I can totally see how this Kpop singer could accidentally wear something like that.

Ask any ex-pat in East Asia and they’ll tell you the same.

About the lady trying to come back to high school again story, I honestly felt that. I didn’t have the best high school experience (well school experience in general), and looking back at it now, most of it was fault of my own.

I’ve always wanted to go back to those times and do so much better.

As someone who has been living in South Korea since 2011 and spent almost as much time working in and around the K-entertainment industry, I think I can shed some light on the whole TWICE/Chaeyoung incident. Firstly, in general Koreans don’t really concern themselves with too many world affairs that don’t immediately concern them, just like I’m sure a lot of you don’t really know what’s going on in Korea atm or much of it’s history besides what you seen on the surface or in popculture. So it’s fair to say the Chaeyoung and the stylist had absolutely no clue who QAnon or even Sid Vicious is. The are countless discount tshirt/clothing stores here that sell random ass printed shirts and some of the “Engrish” and people just buy them without knowing what it means. The “swastika” is very common here in Buddhist temples long before it was appropriated by evil European fascists. The symbol most Koreans attribute as evil from WW2 is actually the Japanese “Rising Sun” flag since a lot of their history revolves around that and not what happened in Europe. Overall, I think this was just a harmless accident with no ill will that got blown out of proportion.

As someone who worked security in bars / clubs for years this is always the scariest thing. Only had to deal with 2 gun issues (one being a fake one) in 8 years.
