A friend of mine cleared his fence line, but then turned everything to woodchip which he then used to mulch along the fence – just a couple feet on either side (neighbour approved). It stopped a lot of regrowth in the following few years.
That’s known as a ditch blade, or a sling blade. It features prominently in a movie of the same name. Be sure to cut those stobs down close to the ground or you’ll drive them through your tires when you mow over them (or your foot when you walk).
Tip…. to prevent snow and ice from sticking, spray surfaces with cheap cooking spray before storm. (metal, plastic: shovels, snowblowers augers, … Anything that might get sticky ).
Nice to have a fellow farmer Mike to help you clear the fence line. Sounds like you’ll be able to help him at his farm too. He has some nice clearing tools. I’ve never heard of Privet. That sure takes over! That axe blade thing looks dangerous! Wow, that looks so much better! Cute pigs! Thanks for this Jason and Lorraine. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🥧
Loved the music you chose for this. Like a lo fi hip hop. so relaxing. Sometimes plants were grown in a row to keep back the snow or wind and help keep the animals in. And they are very good for privacy. Your place is really taking shape. Looks great!
PRIVET!! It’s the worst, we have it all over our place. I’m so invested in watching you get this stuff cleared out because I have a lot of the same work ahead of me.
Thank you Mike for coming and helping Jason. It is great when friends can combine their time on each others property. It does seem like more than twice as much gets done. I hope Jason will take a video when he comes to help you as well. Have a Blessed day.
Great job on the fence line today, Yes nice to trade and help each other as some times we just need that little extra help with another person, Thanks Mike .
It looks great!!! The piglets acclimating really nicely. They’re so cute in their straw like a pile of leaves they jumped into.✝️🙏💜🌻🍁🍎🥧🦃🐖👧🧒
So satisfying to watch the progress you are making cleaning up this property and showing it some love after the years of neglect!

Looking good- you can get it done by spring. A little each day ❤
I’m glad you are doing all this when the snakes aren’t out. I hope you get it all cleared out before spring when they come back out.
