it’s incredibly heartbreaking that Alzheimer’s still doesn’t have a cure, as well as how much it can harm people. To everyone who has relatives struggling with it or is affected by it themselves, you have my best wishes ❤️
I work with Alzheimer’s patients, and I see this so often. They forget where you fit in their lives, but what they don’t forget is how you make them feel. When a wife walks into my building, and the patients face lights up, even though they don’t remember who they are…. They know that this person makes them feel like they are home.
Oh bless, this was BEAUTIFUL. I’m currently having to be my Mom’s memory of her and our past. It’s sad, sometimes funny, but hard on her to understand all at the same time.
My grandmother died of Alzheimer’s. She and I were extraordinarily close. Toward the end, she forgot who we were, but I was lucky enough to spend her last day with her. I read to her from one of her favorite books, “The Good Earth” by Pearl S. Buck. She made it through all of the wonderful times and stopped breathing right before the famine hit in the story. It was almost as if she was saying “I’ve seen enough tragedy, I’m out.” She was nonverbal at the end, but that last day, she did know it was me and lovingly caressed my cheek before I opened the book. I’ll treasure that moment as long as I live.
My father had Alzheimer’s. I look exactly like my mother and he would constantly mistake me for her. In a way it was very sweet for mom and myself, but so very sad to watch. I think Alzheimer’s has to be the most heartbreaking disease there is
I don’t know how to feel about this. It’s amazing that they love eachother so much, they got married twice but… The reason why they got married twice just makes me feel so sad for both of them
This is so heartbreaking 😢 My great grandmother had Alzheimer’s too and forgot my name and who I was… Life is so precious❤ Cherish it while you can! Make memories that you’ll never forget😊
My grandma’s older sister died a few years ago. In her last years, she couldn’t remember much and had trouble recognising my grandma. However, this didn’t stop my grandma from calling and visiting her. They also sang songs together. It was beautiful.
Man that’s heartbreaking man I can’t imagine someone forgetting me over and over and over again. When you wonder what a person’s life really comes down to it is really nothing but a collection of memories. Even when everything else is falling away you still have that. And to have that taken away that would be worse than being blind
That’s a beautiful story to hear I have Alzheimer’s on both sides of my family pretty much almost everyone of them and I’m starting to notice my dissent into no memory it’s sad and it’s scary but I’ve nursed three family members through it that I try to explain to my kids now That things may change drastically in a short period of time
This hits close to home. Someone very close to me has Alzheimer’s and has forgotten who my kids were while they were talking to them. 😔

This is so heartbreakingly lovely. That’s true love right there! Knowing that he proposed to her a second time just shows they’re truly soul mates
They sound like soulmates to me🥰 this story is sheartwarming but so heartbreaking. Alzheimer’s is horrible horrible disease😥
This is so heartbreaking, but beautiful.
At least when Peter left, Peter had a great person with him forever.
