Their Japanese album was actually announced way back in January, so that album might have been done for a while.

As for the solo wait, I think the reason it took so long is because of what happened with Miss A. One of the members of that group(Suzy) got extremely popular in Korea, to the point that she eclipsed the rest of the group. People were calling the group “Suzy and Friends” and the members started having issues with her. Plus they had infrequent comebacks, which didn’t help. When they disbanded, JYPE set up the division system they have now where each division gets a certain amount of groups to take care of so they don’t get neglected. Also, they started emphasizing the group over the individual. Do I think the TWICE members should have gotten solos a little earlier? Sure, but now that they’re finally starting, you can see the anticipation for them.

Before the Miss A stuff happened, JYP groups at the time got solo stuff earlier than the current ones now(2PM and Wonder Girls).
