💜 Good Morning America Disrespecting TWICE on National TV
📝 We all know how K-pop groups performing in US television shows had become the norm this past few years especially after BTS made it possible that is why when TWICE was set to make an appearance in Good Morning America, ONCEs are excited but it didn’t last long because instead of treating the girls right, GMA disrespected them and fans were furious after seeing what they did.

The nine-member girl group from JYP recently released their most awaited all-English single entitled “The Feels” and aside from the fact the Jeongyeon appeared in the MV after announcing a hiatus back in August, ONCEs were super happy to finally see the girls taking on the American music scene.
Since honestly, it’s about time they do.
Unfortunately, this excitement didn’t last that long though when TWICE’s performance for GMA3: What You Need To Know, a spinoff of the talk show Good Morning America was uploaded on the show’s official YouTube Channel.

There are people who have never heard of BTS, much less Twice. What GMA did was disrespectful but not everyone in the U.S.knows pop artists much less K-Pop. Morning shows audiences are older (from what data I have read) and not necessarily in tune with entertainment and music culture.

If you don’t think like them or act like them they they don’t care anything about you and would rather not have anything to do with you. All K-Pop fans of all groups need to hit GMA hard!
What they did do our girls was very disrespectful and ONCE we need to fight for our girls , we will slap those people with our girls new comeback … Let’s get it ONCE !!! Twice fighting!!!!
As Korean Americans, I never understood why I couldn’t just put myself as American ethnic on school application paper. I have faced racism throughout my life here in US. Yet, we have to try and understand that majority of US TV audience do not understand Asian pop culture. Hence the question asked was not that sensitive. I saw as an effort to connect the two culture/audience.
They aren’t as well known in America. They were probably just trying to draw in genera kpop fans or people who like have watched Squid games. And no you wouldn’t say Arianas like that because she’s known in American pop culture and is American…and everyone doesn’t know the kpop dynamics, they literally just asked about how they blend everyone’s style and y’all had a fit while they were trying to learn like they owe it to twice to know the history of kpop and all the ins and outs like they aren’t one of a million interviews they’ll have in the year, get over yourselves

I know, I know, twice may not have the recognition in USA much, but GMA literally had them on the show, and said their group name in the video. It would’ve been great if they put in the little more effort to just put “Twice-the feels” at least in the title. I wouldn’t go that far to compare them to other artist, discrimination, but they could’ve done that and expected some backlash from that.
If Kpop artistes even wants to break into the US or anywhere in the international market, it would make more sense for them to speak and communicate in English. That’s the basic.

The thumbnail says “I don’t like them” with a picture of Jeongyeon. I understand it’s clickbait but having Jeongyeon on there is a bit insensitive given that she is on a break for her mental health. Let’s not be disrespectful to her like that or Twice for that matter since the interviewers never said that.
